Disaster Kit Recommendations - Deep Breaths & Don't Forgets

Disaster Girl's Disaster Recommendations
 Deep Breaths & Don't Forgets
For more please see: previous disaster kit articles.

There are so many things to be thought of during moments of disaster, and often times you don't have much time to think about what to do. In situations where you can look back and obviously see that seconds were a deciding factor in a time of crisis, it's helpful to put the effort in before something actually does happen. The world's militaries, schools, and business do it- and you should really conduct drills and practice runs before a disaster too. Here's a list of things commonly forgotten during disaster and times of crisis:

DEEP BREATH
I'll keep this one short because you're probably tired of hearing it, but you really do need to stay calm. Someone panicking and screaming at the top of their lungs in an erratic manner while crying, flailing, and generally acting like a temper tantrum prone child never helped anyone, ever. You can practice this in your everyday life. While it seems minuscule learning to control your actions in mini 'disasters' whether it be someone getting injured unexpectedly or roadside flat in the middle of a thunderstorm it will begin to condition your brain into going into 'fight' mode rather than 'flight' mode. It will help you make better decisions, and think more clearly in situations it can difficult to think in.

FILL BATHTUBS & OTHER CONTAINERS
This is useful in most disaster situations. A bathtub can hold a lot of water which can be used for various things in the event that the water does go off. You can flush a toilet with no power, as long as you have water. If the water goes out for a week a family of three will need around 65 gallons of water just for drinking. Fill everything you can fill, and use the water purification methods listed here for drinking water.

SHUTTING OFF UTILITIES
Sure, we'd all like to ride through a hurricane with the TV on, while making some food on the stove with plans of a hot shower in the mix. While doing all three may seem 'moronic' its fairly common for people to do at least one or two of these things during a disaster. In disaster situations that have slow escalations (I.E. hurricane with a week heads up, severe storms, blizzards) and even ones that happen abruptly (I.E. earthquakes, mudslides, etc) it is important to shut your water, electricity, and gas off- especially when evacuating. While these utilities are pretty safe on their own, mixed with a disaster they can cause more problems than the conveniences they offer.

MONEY & BARTERING
If the power goes out, the credit card machines do too. And if the apocalypse ever does end up happening, having extras of things people may need will be quite handy. You need to have money (preferably in smaller bills & different forms- you don't want to end up paying fifty bucks or a whole gold coin for a loaf of bread), lots of change/coins, and stuff that you're able to barter with (several small bottles of high grade alcohol come to mind). Also, never keep everything together- if you get robbed or even lose something you don't want to lose it all at once.

EXTRA UNDERWEAR
Do I need to go into detail about why this may be useful? You answered 'No.' right?
But I'd be willing to wager that you didn't have any in your disaster kit.

IMPORTANT PERSONAL INFORMATION
Extended family members names, addresses, phone numbers- laminated on a card is incredibly useful. You should have your immediate family's birth certificates, social security cards, IDs, list of credit cards, the deed to the house, your will, any court agreements, all of your car information, and really anything of great importance in a waterproof envelop as well. Primary physicians info, lists of health problems and/or medications taken are also great adds.

THE USEFULNESS OF A PORTABLE TOILET

Luggable Loo
$28.95

Because, when it comes down to it- no one wants to use the bushes.

A GOOD PAIR OF BROKEN IN SHOES
For all the miles you may have to walk. If your car tire gets a flat. If you can't get to the highway because the traffic is at a standstill. For the moments all you can do is run, and just keep running. Oh dear, I sound like a Nike commercial. Those shoes may be the only ones you have for a while so choose wisely. I'm inclined to recommend a skating sneaker brand, as they are so heavily padded.

DISPOSABLE WATERPROOF CAMERAS
The power may go out and your phone battery may die, and in the aftermath of a disaster a digital camera may not be as handy as you would like it to be. You should always have at least one disposable waterproof camera in your disaster kit. You may need to take pictures of the damage afterwards of your house, car, street, etc for insurance and documentation purposes.

COMMUNICATION / SAFE & WELL LIST

If you have internet access after a disaster you can report that you're safe to the American Red Cross Safe & Well List. Alternatively you should also have one extended family member who doesn't live in your geographical region act as a outlet for notifying the rest of the family of your well being. Always remember that during a disaster you will have better luck sending out a text message rather than making a phone call.

_________________________________________________________________________
 * * * * *

I'm totally starting to get why so many 'Preppers' devote entire basements, and in some cases even separate houses to storing all this stuff. The list of what you may need is really never ending, with new tools being made or discovered daily. It's the 'hobby' that keeps on giving.

Disaster Kit Recommendations - Stitching 101

Disaster Girl's Survival Kit Recommendations
Bonus items you should add on top of items listed in  previous survival kit article.

Adding the Power of a Basic Emergency Stitching to your Stash:

The next thing I want to recommend to add to your disaster kit on top of a first aid kit would be a surgical kit, in the rare event that something does need to be stitched up, etc. Now while this won't help you in more serious circumstances where you actually need major surgery- it will come in handy to have. Whether you learn to use it yourself or someone with emergency medical training needs supplies for something, either way you know you are covered.

Below I've listed all the emergency surgical related items you should have in your kit:

Emergency Surgical and Suture Kit:
Emergency Surgical Kit
 Retail Price: $39.95 + S&H

Sterile Gauze Pads

Dynarex Gauze Pads

Are you Sirius? - Say Hello to Ata, the 6 inch Alien

THE DOCUMENTARY TRAILER

To Buy The Movie ($9.99) Click Here

To Watch for Free See Below:

THE PHOTOS

WOW.

THE STRAIGHT FACTS

1. Stanford Director of Stem Cell Biology Garry Nolan has concluded thus far' that Ata is "humanoid". Humanoid is defined in Webster's dictionary as the following:

Main Entry: hu·man·oid
Pronunciation: \ˈhyü-mə-ˌnȯid, ˈyü-\
Function: adjective
Date: 1918
: having human form or characteristics <humanoid dentition> <humanoid robots>
— humanoid noun]

2. Stanford Director of Stem Cell Biology Garry Nolan has concluded that we are closer related to Ata than Monkeys.

3. DNA analysis has concluded Ata was male.

4. DNA analysis has concluded Ata was between 6-8 years of age at time of death.

5. Stanford Director of Stem Cell Biology Garry Nolan has dated the time of death within the last 100 years.

6. DNA analysis has concluded part of the DNA is of Chilean descent.

7. X-Rays confirmed Ata has only 10 ribs.

8. Stanford Director of Stem Cell Biology Garry Nolan and Scientists also from Stanford have both concluded that the head and eyes can not be medically classified.

9. Ata was found in the Chile's Atacama Desert.

10. Ata is 13 centimeters long.

11. Stanford Director of Stem Cell Biology Garry Nolan is still working towards better understanding the DNA sequences that don't seem to fit. For updates please click here.
12. This movie is based off of Dr. Steven M. Greer's book Hidden Truth, Forbidden Knowledge.

This documentary really begs the question-
Does classifying Ata as human really matter if we descended from it?
Alien is human if human is alien.

You can have one too!

March 30, 2012

Life is a conspiracy theory, and it always will be.

One of the most common questions I get from people when talking about this blog is ”Do you think the world will end?” Silly people… I usually ask them what the phrase ‘the end of the world’ means to them, as it really is different to everyone. Not a lot of thought out responses, this is one of those recurring moments that I have where I wish people would think a little deeper and try just a little harder. It’s usually something naïve like “All living things dying” or “Nuclear winter”, which don’t get me wrong- are very bad things.. but people forget. Or maybe they just don’t realize.

“All living things dying” is perhaps one of the stupidest things I have ever read. Riddle me this.. if all of humanity died- would the animals of the Earth or the Earth itself care that we were dead? No. Would they notice we were gone? Perhaps, but I’m pretty sure the animals and Earth would be pretty happy about our removal. “Good riddance,” they would say, “the return of true roaming is upon us.” On a larger scale for a moment, let’s remove the rest of living things. A barren planet with not a living thing in sight. Do you think Earth would care that it was the new Uranus? I think not.

I guess what I’m getting at is how does the world even end? If there is not a human being to comment on it, it hasn’t ended- because no one knows. No one is around to tell anyone else about it. And for that matter, if there is someone around to tell you about it then the world didn’t end- in fact humanity survived against insurmountable odds.

To me the “end of the world” isn’t so much the end of the world as it is more “the end of the world as we know it”. That could mean a million things. For teenage girls in North America, the end of the world would be the death of shopping malls and boy bands. For life long students the end of the world would be the loss of merit in their degrees. For any thriving country, every modernized citizen of the world, the death of technology and electricity would be the end of the world. To a plant the end of the world would be no dirt in which to place its roots. To a lion the end of the world would be nowhere to hunt and roam free.

The meaning of the end of the world is subjective. So is the meaning or merit of humanity. So am I and so are you. It is all to be interpreted, and every single one of our interpretations will vary. There is no correct answer and there is no wrong answer. Trying to find one is just as fruitless as looking for the meaning to life. I do feel that the people who obsess over what the end of the world really is are usually people who have given up on finding a real answer to the meaning of life. ‘If we cannot figure out its beginning, let’s at least figure out its end.’

Either way, the world already ended; in a million different ways to a million different people. It’s happening today, it’s happening tomorrow and you can catch on the evening news tonight. It’s all around you; if you open your eyes and appreciate things at their actual value. Finding your apocalypse is a matter of defining your apocalypse. For me, that’s not sharing my thoughts, my ideas, my mind. That would truly be the end of the world for me.

So do I think the world will end? Yes, I do. Do I think the world will end in the way prophecies, society, Hollywood, and the media paint it? Maybe… and who am I to even answer that. Do I think that humanity needs a “catastrophic event” for the world to end? Nope. I genuinely think that we’ll end up sabotaging ourselves.

The second most common question? - “What are you going to do if the world doesn’t end on December 21st 2012? Will you keep writing?” Once again, silly silly people. The correct question would be ’What are you going to do if the end of the Mayan calendar doesn’t mean a thing, and the apocalypse doesn’t happen?” First of all that would mean that you are assuming I believe in the televised Maya myths. The Maya were an interesting group of people. They knew things they shouldn’t have known and made things that seem improbable for their skill level. They were fucking awesome people.. minus the human sacrifices and all. I am fascinated by them… but that doesn’t necessarily mean that I believe that the end of their calendar is the end of humanity. It also doesn’t mean that I can ignore that fact that this year is the culmination of many prophecies. I am no Ronald Camping, and make no predictions so I will have no reason to shut down this site post 12/21/2012.

The Disaster Caster will continue on.
There will be more prophecies.
More conspiracies. More mysteries to figure out.
The world will continue to have devastating things happen for me to write about.
That is a guarantee.
Life is a conspiracy theory,
and it always will be.

The 'Rights' Fascade - The Truth About Your American Privileges

In one of my previous post (See: Pooling Resources – Let’s Talk FEMA) I had included a short video about Martial Law. It was a great resource that included the very executive orders that had been passed that really define Martial Law. It was the only video I could find, surprisingly enough as I wanted facts with little to no opinions which is unfortunately the case in point when it comes to YouTube. Last night when I was checking my previous posts, as I do often to correct errors and check out links, I saw that the aforementioned video had been “Removed by User”. Sadly, this is a common thing with good videos on YouTube- they get censored, they get removed, users get flagged and accounts are terminated. I have seen it a hundred times before, and it will happen a hundred times more. In the coming weeks I will be adding a new section to The Disaster Caster, which will feature video posts. The original premise of the video posts was going to be “teaching”/weather segments (Hippy Dippy Disaster Girl anyone?)- I was going to dress up as a teacher, get a blackboard and break it down for you. Now that this has happened, not that it’s really that big of a deal or anything, I figure I should at least try to teach you the things you SHOULD KNOW. I mean, I’d love it if the entire world was educated on Gaia, the Verneshot theory, the premise of cryonics... so on and so forth- but I realized that I can deal with people not knowing that stuff.

What I cannot deal with is Americans, living in America, conforming to American standards and practices- but not knowing a god damn thing about the reality of important things like the very LAWS and RIGHTS we are in the country because. The rights that the Declaration of Independence stated cannot be taken away, the very things that this country was founded upon.

So what are your privileges?

Bill of Rights
Amendment 1 Freedoms, Petitions, Assembly
Amendment 2 Right to bear arms
Amendment 3 Quartering of soldiers
Amendment 4 Search and arrest
Amendment 5 Rights in criminal cases
Amendment 6 Right to a fair trial
Amendment 7 Rights in civil cases
Amendment 8 Bail, fines, punishment
Amendment 9 Rights retained by the People
Amendment 10 States' rights
Later Amendments of Rights
Amendment 11 Lawsuits against states
Amendment 12 Presidential elections
Amendment 13 Abolition of slavery
Amendment 14 Civil rights
Amendment 15 Black suffrage
Amendment 16 Income taxes
Amendment 17 Senatorial elections
Amendment 18 Prohibition of liquor
Amendment 19 Women's suffrage
Amendment 20 Terms of office
Amendment 21 Repeal of Prohibition
Amendment 22 Term Limits for the Presidency
Amendment 23 Washington, D.C., suffrage
Amendment 24 Abolition of poll taxes
Amendment 25 Presidential succession
Amendment 26 18-year-old suffrage
Amendment 27 Congressional pay raises
For More In-Depth Information Click Here

You still have those 'rights' don’t get me wrong. They’re there, but as George Carlin said:

“Boy everyone in this country is running around yammering about their fucking rights. “I have a right, you have no right, we have a right, they don’t have a right.”

Folks I hate to spoil your fun, but… there’s no such thing as rights. They’re imaginary. We made ‘em up. Like the boogie man. Like Three Little Pigs, Pinocchio, Mother Goose, shit like that. Rights are an idea. They’re just imaginary. They’re a cute idea. Cute. But that’s all. Cute…and fictional. But if you think you do have rights, let me ask you this, “where do they come from?” People say, “They come from God. They’re God given rights.” Awww fuck, here we go again…here we go again.

The God excuse, the last refuge of a man with no answers and no argument, “It came from God.” Anything we can’t describe must have come from God. Personally folks, I believe that if your rights came from God, he would’ve given you the right for some food every day, and he would’ve given you the right to a roof over your head. GOD would’ve been looking out for ya. GOD would’ve been looking out for ya. You know that.

He wouldn’t have been worried making sure you have a gun so you can get drunk on Sunday night and kill your girlfriend’s parents.

But let’s say it’s true. Let’s say that God gave us these rights. Why would he give us a certain number of rights?

The Bill of Rights of this country has 10 stipulations. Okay…10 rights. And apparently God was doing sloppy work that week, because we’ve had to amend the bill of rights an additional 17 times. So God forgot a couple of things, like…SLAVERY. Just fuckin’ slipped his mind.

But let’s say…let’s say God gave us the original 10. He gave the British 13. The British Bill of Rights has 13 stipulations. The Germans have 29, the Belgians have 25, the Swedish have only 6, and some people in the world have no rights at all. What kind of a fuckin’ god damn god given deal is that!?…NO RIGHTS AT ALL!? Why would God give different people in different countries a different numbers of different rights? Boredom? Amusement? Bad arithmetic? Do we find out at long last after all this time that God is weak in math skills? Doesn’t sound like divine planning to me. Sounds more like human planning, Sounds more like one group trying to control another group. In other words…business as usual in America.

Now, if you think you do have rights, I have one last assignment for ya. Next time you’re at the computer get on the Internet, go to Wikipedia. When you get to Wikipedia, in the search field for Wikipedia, I want to type in, “Japanese-Americans 1942″ and you’ll find out all about your precious fucking rights. Alright, you know about it.

In 1942 there were 110,000 Japanese-American citizens, in good standing, law abiding people, who were thrown into internment camps simply because their parents were born in the wrong country. That’s all they did wrong. They had no right to a lawyer, no right to a fair trial, no right to a jury of their peers, no right to due process of any kind. The only right they had was…”Right this way!” - Into the internment camps.

Just when these American citizens needed their rights the most…their government took them away. And rights aren’t rights if someone can take ‘em away. They’re privileges. That’s all we’ve ever had in this country is a bill of TEMPORARY privileges; and if you read the news, even badly, you know the list gets shorter, and shorter, and shorter.

Yeap, sooner or later the people in this country are going to realize the government doesn’t give a fuck about them. The government doesn’t care about you, or your children, or your rights, or your welfare or your safety. It simply doesn’t give a fuck about you. It’s interested in its own power. That’s the only thing…keeping it, and expanding wherever possible.

Personally when it comes to rights, I think one of two things is true: either we have unlimited rights or we have no rights at all.

Starts at 4:25

LET'S BEGIN. HERE'S YOUR CRASH COURSE IN MARTIAL LAW.

Martial Law- The exercise of Government control by military authorities over the civilian population of a designated territory.

...Well that's a little vague.. isn't it? What IS the Government/Military 'allowed' to 'control'?

To get a better idea of what the Government/Military can do let's look at the kind of 'Martial laws' and 'Executive Orders' that have been passed .. already.

Executive Order 10995: All Communications and Media are to be seized by the US Federal Government. Internet, CB/Radio, TV, Newspapers, Telephones/Cell Phones will be under federal control. Hence, the First Amendment will be suspended until reinstated.
Executive Order 10997: All Electrical Power, Fuels, Minerals, and Nuclear Power will be seized by the US Federal Government.
Executive Order 10998: All Food Resources, Farms/Equipment will be seized by the Government, stored food (By You or Stores) will be seized and regulated.
Executive Order 10999: All Modes of Transportation will go into Government Control. Any vehicle now belongs to the US Federal Government.
Executive Order 11000: All Civilians can be forced to work under Federal Supervision for Federal needs and Programs.
Executive Order 11490: Establishes Presidential control over all US Citizens, its Businesses, and all Churches in time of "Emergency."
Executive Order 12919: Directs Cabinet members to be ready to take over all aspects of the US Economy during a State of National Emergency at the direction of the President.
Executive Order 13010: Directs Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to take over all Government Agencies in time of Emergency. FEMA is also granted control of the Executive Branch of the US Government.
Executive Order 12656: "ASSIGNMENT OF EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS RESPONSIBILITIES", "A national emergency is any occurrence, including natural disaster, military attack, technological emergency, or other emergency that seriously degrades or seriously threatens the national security of the United States. Policy for national security emergency preparedness shall be established by the President." This allows Federal takeover of all local Law Enforcement Agencies, Wage/Inflation controls, prohibits US Citizens from moving any assets you have in the US, creates a new military draft, controls all travel in and out of the US, etc.

So What Should You Expect?

1. You will have no rights. There no longer is a pursuit of happiness, the pursuit now is for continuity. There is no freedom of Speech. The Nazi's return, only this time with a harder fist in America.
2. Detention/Imprisonment without Cause/Charges. They will take you, just to get you out of the way. Just to push their own agenda (Hmm... NDAA anyone?? How about those FEMA camps??)
3. You now own nothing. Everything belongs to the Government. Your money. Your house. Your cars. Your food. It's theirs now. If they could suck the air out of your lungs, they would.
4. Curfews, limited travel, ridiculous procedures (Hey! TSA! I see you!)- harsh no travel lists.
5. Confiscation of weapons, goods and commodities including food, clothing, fuel, water, and electricity.
6. Complete control over currency, assets, and the entire US economy. (hmm.. the 1% come to mind)
7. Citizen Surveillance (hmm.. the recent passing of the Drone use in the USA comes to mind..)
8. Complete censorship of all Media sources. (SOPA, PIPA, ACTA)
9. Pandemonium in the streets, (Really, if this happened- Avoid highly populated areas. Be one with nature, and go live in a tree-)
10. Habeus Corpus suspended. No more trials. No more innocent until proven guilty. No more opinions.

Are you catching my drift?
This is real. It happened in New Orleans during Katrina, it happened to
Japanese-American citizens, and it can happen to you.
If shit hits the fan, something is bound to land on you.
Be prepared. Be smart. Stay away from highly populated areas.
Isolate yourself from the general population.
& Stay Away From People in Uniform!
