The next thing I want to recommend to add to your disaster kit on top of a first aid kit would be a surgical kit, in the rare event that something does need to be stitched up, etc. Now while this won't help you in more serious circumstances where you actually need major surgery- it will come in handy to have. Whether you learn to use it yourself or someone with emergency medical training needs supplies for something, either way you know you are covered.
